Site of the Week: MyPyramid.gov

When I heard someone recently say they had never heard of this site I knew it had to be featured as zBoost Your Life’s Site of the Week. I was introduced to this site in a college health class and it seriously changed my life, nutrition wise.  MyPyramid.gov is provided to us by the United States Department of Agriculture.  This site is a go to source to find out how to create a health plan tailored for your stats as well as find important information about your health and fitness.

A few unique aspects about this site that I found interesting and useful are:

  • My Pyramid Plan: This allows you to create a tailored plan for your body type while also making sure you get the nutrients you need each day.
  • Interactive Tools: The one I like the best is a menu planner that helps create meals that suite your life while keeping you healthy.
  • Accurate information: This aspect of the site is great because you will know when reading the information it is correct for you and your loved ones.
  • Tips for a healthy you: There is one section called “Steps to a healthier weight” that helps people take the first step toward a healthy weight.

These bullet points are just the beginning of a huge site of great information and aids for a healthy life. Take a little time and see if your current diet is healthy and if not use the tracker to see what you can do to have a health 2010! To visit the site go to www.mypyramid.gov

Site of the Week: RepeaterStore

RepeaterStore began in February 2007 after three college friends decided to start a business together. With a background in Physics from Oxford University, the three friends found that the cell phone repeater business was the one for them. RepeaterStore is now responsible for the creation of a multimillion dollar enterprise that brings the latest cell phone repeaters to market. RepearterStore has a worldwide cellular frequency database and recently opened a brand in London, UK as well.

Wi-Ex is proud to have ReapeaterStore carrying the zBoost product line and wanted to capture firsthand what the company’s experience selling zBoost has been:

1.      Why have you chosen to work with zBoost over the competitors?

We sell a wide range of Cellular Repeater products but we find the zBoost products stand out as they are stylish and low-cost, but don’t compromise on quality.

2.      When selling zBoosts, what tactics work best for you?

We find a lot of success marketing to our existing customers.  They are usually very happy with the improvement zBoost products bring to their reception and have friends or businesses that we can also help out.

3.      Do you have any funny or interesting stories related to working with zBoosts?

We had a college student who confessed to “love, love, love” zBoost after she got a unit in to her dorm room, which allowed her to stay in touch with her folks.

4.      Do you have any interesting customer stories?

We had another customer who claimed that the zBoost unit we sent him ‘saved Christmas’ for his family as he was purchasing cell phones for his kids.

5.      Anything you would like to say about being selected at Wi-Ex’s Dealer in the Spotlight:

We are happy to be selected and look forward to continue growing our relationship with Wi-Ex.  We are excited about the opportunities that lie in the future.

Site of the Week: StumbleUpon

This week, I’m sharing one of my favorite websites- StumbleUpon.com. When you go to StumbleUpon to set up an account, you choose from a list of topics that you’re interested in such as technology, cooking, animals, music etc. Once you’ve created your profile, you hit the “Stumble” button and begin to enjoy all the random treasures the internet has to offer. StumbleUpon automatically generates websites and blogs with random articles, videos and pictures based on the preferences that you have selected.

StumbleUpon also allows you to like or dislike the content with a thumbs up or a thumbs down button. By deciding that you like the content, StumbleUpon will save it for you to access later under the favorites section. Also, you are able to share the content directly through several social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. StumbleUpon also enables you to email links to friends and colleagues to enjoy as well.

StumbleUpon is a fun way to get your daily dose of random knowledge, and maybe a few giggles too!

Here are some of my favorites that I’ve stumbled upon recently (pun intendedJ).

Site of the Week: Rent the Runway

“Rent The Runway : love. wear. return.”

This simple motto has lead to a whole new way of shopping online. RTR is a member’s only online shopping site where instead of purchasing designer dresses, you rent them, for a fraction of the price and then return them back to RTR’s headquarters in New York City.

RTR was created by Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss, after they met at Harvard Business School. They wanted to allow every woman to be able to wear the most fashionable items of the season, at a much more modest price. RTR is for women who love high fashion and want to look glamorous for their important nights out, and have fun with fashion and new trends, but aren’t able to purchase these expensive designer labels.

When a member rents a dress, RTR sends them 2 sizes of the dress that they picked along with a “survival kit” with items like safety pins and dress tape. You rent the dress for a selected period and then put it in the return box and send it back to NYC, where it is then dry cleaned and returned to stock.

Also, the newest additions to the site are the monthly and season passes. For flat rates, you can rent as many dresses as you want during the time period for which you’ve paid for. This could be a great time and money saver if you have multiple events that you will need dresses for, like around the holidays.

To fill out an application go to RentTheRunway.com:

Think about it- search for fabulous dresses online and have them shipped directly to your door. And on top of that, no more stressful mall trips and worrying about wearing the same thing as someone else!

Happy renting! :)

Site of the Week: Fandango

Since the movie season is in full swing with the latest flicks coming out I thought I could give all you movie fans a method that will save you time and money while still going to all the newest releases. Fandango.com is all around movie site where you can view trailers, purchase tickets, view movies times,  view ratings, rate the movie yourself, track upcoming movies, and best of all save some cash. The trailer viewing section of this site is great because many of them are extended trailers so you can get that last few seconds of the preview in. You can also purchase tickets on the site as well once you create an account. The tickets are printable at home which lets you avoid the ticket lines on opening night. To become part of the community you can rate movies for others to view or you can look at other’s ratings for the movies you want to see.
Another great feature is tracking upcoming movies. I know the diehard movie fanatics have countdowns for when their favorite flick will come out and with Fandango they can make sure not to miss the earliest promotions of it.  Once you have a Fandango account you will start receiving emails about savings and how to get into movies for as cheap as $1 per person. You can get any better than that in these days.

Site of the Week: Snapfish

Memories are one of the best gifts you can give someone.  Since Christmas is one week away I thought this favorite site of mine would be a good one to share for all you last minute shoppers.  Snapfish.com is an online digital photo site that allows you to store, print, order, and share your pictures. The first step is to set up an account and upload your pictures. Once you have created your account, you and your friends can link your accounts to exchange photos. You can also use Snapfish to keep up with your printing and have your prints shipped to you or sent to your local store that supports photo printing to pick up.

Although the aspects above make organizing and sharing photos easier, the best part is the personalized gifts you can make with Snapfish.  Snapfish has over 100 gifts that you can personalize and make your own. A few of the gifts that stood out to me were the calendar that someone could enjoy all year long, the charm bracelet with photos in the charms that would last a lifetime, and the traditional coffee mug to brighten anyone’s  morning.  To start your Snapfish account or to buy a memorable gift for a loved one go to www.snapfish.com and start your digital photo collection now!
